Job Summary

The Madrasa Early Childhood Programme Uganda (MECPU) is establishing a pool of qualified Data Entrants / Enumerators to support data collection, entry, verification, cleaning, and management activities across multiple Early Childhood Development (ECD) projects. Successful candidates will be engaged on a need basis to support monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, and assessment activities.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection

  • Conduct household, caregiver, teacher, school, and community interviews.
  • Administer surveys, questionnaires, BEQI, IDELA, and other ECD assessment tools.
  • Conduct digital data collection using Kobo Collect, ODK, Excel, and related platforms.
  • Support field mobilization and respondent identification activities.
  • Ensure accurate recording of responses during fieldwork.

Data Entry & Management

  • Enter paper-based monitoring and assessment data into approved systems.
  • Perform bulk data entry for parenting sessions, VHT visits, attendance, and assessment records.
  • Maintain electronic datasets and tracking sheets.
  • Organize and properly label electronic and physical files.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Verify completeness and consistency of collected and entered data.
  • Identify and correct missing, duplicate, inaccurate, or inconsistent entries.
  • Participate in data cleaning and validation exercises.
  • Follow approved data management protocols and standards.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Submit completed tools, datasets, attendance sheets, and reports on time.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned devices, tools, and documents.
  • Report field challenges and data quality issues promptly.
  • Participate in assignment debrief and review meetings.

Ethics & Safeguarding

  • Adhere to safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, and ethical research standards.
  • Obtain informed consent before interviews and assessments.
  • Ensure secure handling of beneficiary information.
  • Avoid data falsification, manipulation, or unauthorized disclosure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in:
    • Statistics
    • Quantitative Economics
    • Information Technology
    • Social Sciences
    • Education
    • Development Studies
    • Monitoring & Evaluation
    • Related field with data management experience

Experience

  • Minimum 12 months experience in:
    • Data collection
    • Data entry
    • Field research
    • Monitoring and evaluation activities

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy and data management skills
  • Experience using:
    • Kobo Collect
    • ODK
    • SurveyCTO
    • CommCare
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Similar mobile data collection applications
  • Ability to communicate in local languages is an added advantage
  • High integrity and ethical conduct

Remuneration

  • UGX 90,000 per day
  • Fee is inclusive of meals and refreshments during assignments
  • Payment made upon satisfactory completion of assigned tasks and deliverables

Reporting

Reports directly to:

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL/M&E) Team
  • Designated Project Supervisors
  • Assessment Coordinators (where applicable)

Important Notice
