The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in line with clinical standards and protocols while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Monitor vital signs and patient progress, reporting abnormalities promptly.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Assist in medical procedures and support doctors during ward rounds.
2. Clinical Duties
Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
Handle emergency situations effectively and provide first aid when required.
3. Patient Support & Education
Educate patients and families on:
Treatment plans
Medications
Home care practices
Provide emotional and psychological support to patients.
Promote health awareness and preventive healthcare practices.
4. Collaboration
Work closely with:
Doctors
Laboratory staff
Pharmacists
Other healthcare professionals
Participate in:
Ward rounds
Case discussions
Shift handovers
Support multidisciplinary teamwork to improve patient outcomes.
5. Compliance & Quality Assurance
Adhere to hospital policies, nursing standards, and ethical guidelines.
Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Participate in:
Quality improvement initiatives
Clinical audits
Requirements
Education
Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN preferred) from a reputable institution.
Certification & Licensing
Must be registered with a valid practicing license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
